Intelligent cameras enhance parking management efficiency - Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital
Smart Parking Management
Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital, established by the Tzu Chi Foundation, is a major medical institution located in Xindian District, Taipei City, Taiwan. Serving as a healthcare hub for the area, it boasts comprehensive facilities such as a library and conference center. The hospital experiences heavy daily traffic of vehicles and people.
Consequently, it encounters a significant challenge in parking resource management, especially during peak hours when patients and visitors frequently encounter difficulties finding parking spots.
Manual parking ticket systems require card insertion at gates, causing long entry/exit queues and high administrative costs.
Congestion inside the lot and the search for open spaces were also common.
The hospital implemented an automated license plate recognition system. Cameras at parking lot entrances and exits identify vehicles, record entry/exit times, and automatically calculate fees based on parking duration. Drivers pay via mobile or credit card, reducing gate delays.
LILIN has been a longstanding provider of license plate recognition solutions, and in recent years, we have enhanced these systems with artificial intelligence, notably enhancing the accuracy of plate recognition. The system identifies license plates and vehicle types. Front-end cameras handle all recognition, eliminating need for additional computing equipment.
LILIN Z7 series AI cameras handle recognition and include built-in access control lists to differentiate between employee and visitor vehicles.
After implementation, traffic flow improved, congestion decreased, and operational costs fell through reduced manual oversight.
Z7 cameras support Python and C# integration via open APIs. As LILIN CIO Steve Hu noted: "Replacing old cameras with LILIN AI models is sufficient—no IT framework changes needed."
LILIN AI cameras are deployed across industrial, government, and academic institutions.
